No, absolutely not.

I am and I will not become a fan of the "light & shine" glow and brushes technique.

At this point it's a lot different from the initial piece (linked in the description) and the entries of other deviants in the last month for this contest [link] .

But I have to find a way to fix that fuckin gradient from red to black that you can see in the higher part.

It's also the same problem of other works, the gradient isn't smooth and it appears a kind of colour scale with visible bars from red to black.

Probably it's because I have to complete the work into photoshop for the forms and add then the gradients into Illustrator that is more precise for manage the gradients.

I don't know. What you think?

i know what you mean mate' i get that scale gradiant crap' all the time when im doing high rez print at work' try a gaussian blur and adding a bit of noise' inly subtle though' at screen rez it should work good' and yeah mate' stay away from that light and shine crap. it looks sweet

At least it's not so "light and shine crap".

But I'm still not so confident with this kind of style.

But (again another "but") at least it's funny and interesting to experiment new directions, sometimes.

Not?

all hand drawn? Or clipping masks of artwork cq images?
Gets prettier when you're looking at it for a longer period of time. It getting more detailed as well if you look carefully. Really nice.

Ok.

Let's explain this complicated shit:

1) [link] this is the initial piece of Joao (check at the end of the post) focus on the geometric lined elements that you see in the piece

2) take the geometric lined elements of the initial piece and compose them in a strange "diamond" construction [link]

3) once constructed the lined structure, flat them and then, with the magic wand selection, face by face, put single gradients to create a fake 3d effect

4) now use the diamond structure to create the shape of the letter J (as Joao)

5) and then use the 3d rendered shapes that you see in the initial piece of Joao and combine them with the diamond structure

6) overlay with a gradient to add atmosphere

7) DONE.

And for the next piece (last step before the final form) i will add more colours, lights and textures.

Hope I was been clear.

Cheers matey ;)

you´re very clear. I haven´t seen your blue artwork.
Now it makes more sense. You can actually see all shapes, lines and your mates diamond texture... 1 + 1 = 2
Looks very smooth together. Thanks for taking the time to explain.
